FAQ

Common Questions About Kitchen Flooring

Porcelain tile is our most durable recommendation — water-resistant, scratch-resistant, and easy to maintain under heavy use. Luxury vinyl plank (LVP) is a popular alternative for homeowners who prefer a warmer underfoot feel at a lower price point. Engineered hardwood works in kitchens with controlled humidity. We walk through the trade-offs during the site visit.
Yes. Subfloor inspection and leveling is part of our standard scope for any flooring installation. High or low spots cause tile to crack and LVP to flex over time. We grind high points and fill low points with self-leveling compound before any flooring goes down.
Yes. We stock transition strips and flooring materials in a wide range of finishes. For LVP and engineered hardwood, matching to adjacent rooms is straightforward — we source from the same line or a compatible finish. For tile, we use matching grout color and transition profiles to create a clean, intentional break between zones.
For freestanding appliances with legs (ranges, refrigerators, dishwashers), we pull them out, install flooring beneath, and reinstall. For appliances secured to cabinetry, we assess case-by-case. Appliance movement is quoted as a separate line item in the estimate so you see the full cost before work begins.
Standard flooring replacement (tile, LVP, hardwood over an existing subfloor) does not require a permit in Wake County. If subfloor structural repairs are needed, we assess whether a permit applies and include permit coordination in the scope if required.
